After going four games without making a 3-pointer, LeBron James finally ended a streak of 20 consecutive missed attempts to surpass his former teammate Kyle Korver for career 3-pointers made. James achieved the milestone during Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat.
Midway through the third quarter, James sank the 2,451st 3-pointer of his career, breaking Korver’s mark of 2,450.
It had taken James some time to break the record after tying it on Nov. 26. Since then, he had gone 0-for-19 from beyond the arc before finally hitting a shot. Fans didn’t hold back, poking fun at how long it took for “The King” to reach the milestone.

“Took him 20 games to make one three,” one quipped.
“Wow only took 80yrs,” another said.
“The Kyle Korver Curse is finally over thank god,” another added.
Another fan likened James’ streak to the infamous performance by the Houston Rockets in Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference finals, where they missed a record 27 straight 3-pointers.
Fans also referenced James’ age and his tendency to break records late in his career, noting the achievement came during a lopsided game.
“Bros going to break every record in the world before he retires at 90,” one said.
“It Took Him 22 Years,” another added.
Despite LeBron James climbing the all-time 3-pointers made rankings, the Lakers suffered their second straight blowout loss, falling to 12-10 on the season. They will next face the Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kyle Korver’s reaction to when LeBron James tied his record
Kyle Korver had a lighthearted response when James tied his record the previous week. During the broadcast of the game against the Phoenix Suns where James equaled Korver’s total, TNT reporter Jared Greenberg shared Korver’s reaction:
"Took you long enough," Korver said.
LeBron James has a career 3-point shooting percentage of 34.8%. Korver, known for his sharpshooting, played three seasons with James in Cleveland and retired with a 42.9% success rate from beyond the arc.
James still trails several players on the NBA’s all-time 3-pointers leaderboard, including Klay Thompson, Reggie Miller, Damian Lillard, Ray Allen, James Harden and the record-holder, Steph Curry.
