NBA: Playoffs-Oklahoma City Thunder at Dallas Mavericks
Landing spots for Josh Giddey in 2024 NBA offseason

The Oklahoma City Thunder might make some tough decisions in the coming off-season, one of which is the future of Josh Giddey at the franchise. OKC was eliminated from the championship race after the Dallas Mavericks defeated them in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Josh Giddey's underwhelming performance in the playoffs

Giddey recorded a poor average of 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 10 games in this season's playoffs. It is not a stat line expected from the OKC's prominent wing player, who has been a key part of their plans.

With the team's structure now revolving around SGA, Giddey doesn't have a solid role to play for the OKC. The franchise may trade him in the coming off-season.

Let us take a look at the possible teams Giddey can be traded to in the upcoming off-season.

#5. Atlanta Hawks

With the Atlanta Hawks having a disappointing season themselves, they will be open to making some changes to their current roster.

The combination of Dejounte Murray and Trae Young hasn't yielded the results the franchise had hoped for and now it looks better to trade one of them. If the OKC can push hard enough, they can pursue a trade involving Hawks star Trae Young.

Young would fit great with the current energetic OKC roster, fulfilling the needs of another solid downtown shooter. The Thunder can offer Giddey with some 2025 first-round draft picks as a fair offer.

#4. Toronto Raptors

One trade that can benefit both parties quite well would be Josh Giddey to the Raptors. He can be efficient in bringing a spark to the boring Raptors squad, which desperately needs a ball-handler change. Giddey would be a great fit for the team in that department.

In exchange, the Thunder can ask for Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown, which would help them fix their struggles with rebounding.

#3. Orlando Magic

Josh Giddey joining the Orlando Magic doesn't look like an impossible deal, and Giddey joining their ranks would give them a solid guard to work with. He could start with Franz Wagner, Jonathan Issac, Paolo Banchero, and Jalen Suggs.

As for the Thunder, they can ask for Wendell Carter Jr., who will be a perfect fit for the OKC. He is very versatile and doesn't need many touches on the ball to make his impact; additionally, he can enable Chet to play more upfront.

#2. Brooklyn Nets

As much as Josh Giddey to the Brooklyn Nets doesn't seem like a great trade, in reality, it is a much better deal. Giddy could help set up Mikal Bridges quite well and reunite with his Australian mate Ben Simmons.

However, it is very unlikely that the Nets would trade someone other than Nic Claxton for Josh Giddey. To make matters a bit more complicated, Claxton would have to participate in a sign-and-trade, which would tilt the decision more on his personal choice.

#1. San Antonio Spurs

The best team for Josh Giddey to go to now would be the San Antonio Spurs. If the Spurs don't mind Giddey's off-court issues, his inclusion into the squad would be very beneficial to them. They are desperate for a ball handler who can feed passes to Victor Wembanyama and Giddey fits that description really well.

If the Thunder can get back Tre Jones and some draft picks, it would be a great deal for them too. Jones is the bench point they need right now to cover some of the weaknesses of their squad. Zach Collins instead of Tre Jones, can also work and have the same impact.
