Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry has reportedly updated his Instagram bio, removing any mention of his team. The change sparked NBA fan speculation about the two-time MVP potentially requesting a trade out of the Bay Area.
Ahead of his 16th season, Curry achieved a career milestone, capturing his first Olympic gold medal with Team USA at this summer's Paris Olympics. He and his longtime rival, LA Lakers superstar forward LeBron James, led the squad, with the two raving about their experience playing together.
Golden State purportedly tried to acquire James at this year's NBA trade deadline but was rebuffed. League insider Marc Stein reported Sunday that James' agent, Rich Paul, was concerned about James facing backlash for joining his fourth team. Thus, for the superstar duo to team up in the NBA, Curry will likely need to head to LA.
On Wednesday, Curry fueled rumors about leaving Golden State by removing the phrase "Guard for the Warriors" from his Instagram bio. He replaced it with "Olympic Gold Medalist."

Meanwhile, many perceived Curry's bio update as a hint that he wants to join James on the Lakers.

Steph Curry further escalates rumors about teaming up with LeBron James amid IG bio update
In addition to removing the Warriors from his Instagram bio, Steph Curry further escalated rumors about his desire to team up with LeBron James on Wednesday.
On X/Twitter and Instagram, the 10-time All-Star posted photos of him, James and their Team USA co-star Kevin Durant at the Olympics. Curry captioned the pictures, "Same Team … Winning Team," seemingly highlighting their strong chemistry.
While Curry played three seasons with Durant on the Warriors from 2016 to 2019, he has yet to play alongside James in the NBA. Thus, it appears more likely he is potentially angling to join forces with the latter.
However, according to Marc Stein, Curry remains most likely to sign a contract extension with Golden State.
So, time will tell if Curry considers requesting a trade from the franchise that drafted him, or if he is just toying with fans' emotions.
