Chris Paul made an embarrassing first-half debut for the Golden State Warriors in their opening night contest against his former team, the Phoenix Suns. Paul didn't look comfortable in the contest, as the Warriors trail 61-47, entering the break. It's all too new for the Dubs to have Paul on the floor, who plays a contrasting style to their fast-paced motion offense.
The veteran point guard could only produce two points, with both coming through free throws. He went zero-for-six from the field across the first 24 minutes. Warriors fans were left distraught after Paul's shambolic outing at halftime, especially with the team seemingly looking off-color, shooting 31.0%.
The Dubnation was left with no choice but to remember former young star Jordan Poole, who was traded in the blockbuster deal to get Chris Paul
"Warriors really traded a rising star for a crippling point guard," one fan wrote.

Chris Paul has tried to make an impact with his playmaking
Chris Paul didn't make a field goal in the first half. But he remained efficient with his playmaking. The veteran guard had six assists without any turnovers. That was a welcome sight for the Warriors, who have had issues in that area. They have averaged well over 15 TOs a game but had only four throughout the first half against the Suns.
Paul handled the ball more when on the floor, which contributed to the Warriors' disciplined offense. Paul also had a few solid defensive possessions during the game. He even drew a charge on former Suns' teammate Durant.
Chris Paul started the game for the Warriors despite rumors about the possibility of him coming off the bench. However, the Warriors decided to go with him in the absence of Draymond Green. The duo aren't like-for-like players because of their size difference, but they share the same responsibility on offense, making CP3 an ideal pick to start the contest.
It hasn't gone according to plan on offense thus far, but there are some positives about Paul's addition that cannot be ignored. It's only the first game of the year, so there will be a few ups and downs until the team builds chemistry with the former All-Star.
