Former LA Lakers player Nick Young shared his thoughts on the ongoing Trae Young-LaMelo Ball comparison. The Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets have had similar starts to their season, which has led to the comparisons between their star players.

Young took to X on Friday to express his thoughts on the subject. He listed one significant achievement of both stars and highlighted that while one has made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, the other has struggled to get his team past the 10th seed in the standings.

"Trae Young get disrespected so bad ppl dnt even got him rank top 10 pg ‘s right now … when I say Trae over Melo .. all I get “he’ll naw you Trippin” melo rank higher then trae and they got the same team but one went to a ECF and the other ain’t made it pass the 10 seed yet," Young tweeted.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, LaMelo Ball has a net worth of $40 million and Young made it clear that he favors the Hawks' guard over him.

Comparing Trae Young and LaMelo Ball's performances this season

The Hawks have won four of their ten matchups this season with Trae Young averaging 24.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 11.1 assists per game. On the contrary, the Hornets have won four of their nine matchups with their star guard LaMelo Ball averaging 28.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

Going by their career achievements, Young is a three-time All-Star while the Hornets star is only a one-time All-Star. However, LaMelo Ball has spent the majority of his early career sidelined because of an injury.

LaMelo had fractured his ankle during the 2022-23 season, a season after being named to his first All-Star selection. The Hornets star had to undergo surgery and was sidelined for the entire season. He returned to the court the next season but was quickly sidelined again because of a lack of rehab.

This season, LaMelo has started strong and is holding the seventh position on the points scored per game leaderboard. On the other hand, Trae Young is holding the 14th place on the same leaderboard. However, Young has been the better guard when it comes to setting up his teammates. The Hawks star has averaged 11.1 assists this season and is leading the assists leaderboard.

On Oct. 25, the Hornets faced the Hawks for the first time this season and the Hawks emerged victorious with a final score of 125-120. Ball scored 34 points in a disappointing loss while Trae Young netted 38 points and 10 assists to help his team win. The Hawks and the Hornets cross paths next on Nov. 30th.
