The Dallas Mavericks hosted the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday in a very crucial matchup for both teams. However, the Mavericks were a little bit off in their game late in the third quarter.
After Dallas called a timeout with less than two minutes left in the quarter, they allowed an easy dunk for Kevon Looney. Mavs players were on the wrong side of the court after the timeout.
Jordan Poole recognized this and quickly made an inbound pass to Looney, who had the easiest two points of his career. It was a bone-headed play for Dallas that could have been easily avoided.

Fans quickly roasted the Dallas Mavericks for losing awareness after a timeout. Most people made fun of Dallas' defense, which is among the worst in the NBA this season. However, others defended the Mavs players because the referees apparently instructed them to go on the other side.

Mavericks lose close game to Warriors
The two points gifted by the Dallas Mavericks to the Golden State Warriors proved to be a difference maker. The Mavericks went on to lose to the Warriors 127-125, losing the season series and tiebreaker.
Dallas falls a 36-37 record and is down to ninth in the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile, Golden State improved to 38-36 and have now won two games in a row on the road. The defending champs also remain sixth in the standings.
Luka Doncic returned to the lineup and put up a monster line. Doncic finished with 30 points, seven rebounds and 17 assists. Jaden Hardy scored 27 points off the bench, while Christian Wood had 19 points, four rebounds and four assists.
The Mavs have nine games remaining in the regular season, with some very winnable matchups. They will face the Charlotte Hornets twice, the Indiana Pacers once, and the San Antonio Spurs in the final game of the season.
However, they would also go up against tough teams such as the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls. They can't afford to lose more games as the race for the final play-in spots will be tight.
On the other hand, Steph Curry led the Warriors with 20 points, five rebounds and 13 assists. Jonathan Kuminga and Jordan Poole had 22 and 16 points off the bench, respectively.
Golden State have eight more games remaining in their schedule. The good news for the defending champs is that five of those games will be played at Chase Center. They will face the Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers on the road.
