Kyrie Irving knows what it takes to win an NBA championship. Now, it appears that he has his mind set on an even more impressive accomplishment.

After the Dallas Mavericks' dominant 132-108 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night, Irving made a statement about the Mavericks' grand vision:

"We are trying to build a dynasty," said the three-time All-Star.

To achieve this lofty goal, Irving knows that he needs his fellow All-Star guard Luka Doncic in prime condition. Doncic missed two games against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a heel contusion.

After initially ruled as questionable for the Blazers game, he played early 30 minutes. Irving complimented Doncic on his hardcourt return.

"He fit right back in," said Irving of Doncic. "We had a lot of great possessions, and that quarter was really key for us to extend that lead. I think he really did a great job of getting us going."

Doncic finished the game with 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Irving — who was a +30 for the Mavs — tallied 20 points on 50% shooting from the field.

The chemistry between Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic is crucial to the Mavs' aspirations

If the Mavericks want to lay the foundations for a dynasty, they will have to start with the dynamic between their two explosive guards.

For his part, Irving has spoken fondly of Doncic as a "brother," especially in late November when the Slovenian was out.

A few days after he gave the shoutout, Kyrie Irving explained the nature of his relationship with Doncic:

"I mean, he spent a lot of time in Madrid and spent a lot of time just learning different languages. ... I call him my 'hermano' or 'brate.' It's just a nickname just to remind him that it's genuine love there, man. I consider him part of my family, part of my tribe."

Kyrie Irving has had his fair share of high-caliber teammates, like LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant and James Harden. Having won just one ring despite the bevy of All-Star talents he has played with, Irving will look to add to that with Doncic.
