In NBA 2K25, players can give LeBron James a farewell tour before the future Hall of Famer retires from the sport. Although it's unclear what game mode the feature is in, players are given the option of a farewell tour. If players accept, James begins his farewell tour with jersey swaps and tributes.

If players decline, James will remain in the league. However, in other NBA 2K games, users can only do so once when they forcibly override a player's retirement. After vetoing a player's retirement, the player will then forcibly retire in one of the seasons to come.

It's unclear whether James' farewell tour follows the same guidelines.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user shared an image of the message players are prompted with regarding James' farewell tour. Another image shows LeBron James swapping jerseys with Steph Curry.

Looking at LeBron James' previous comments about retirement, will the 2024-25 season be his last?

Over the past few years, there has been increasing talk about LeBron James' retirement. Leading up to the 2024 All-Star Game, James spoke about his future in the NBA.

On the heels of his agent and longtime friend, Rich Paul, saying that his talks with the future Hall of Famer regarding retirement have been around having fun rather than setting a specific date, James spoke about his future. The Lakers star mentioned that he hadn't planned how many years he would play before retiring.

Then, following a frustrating finish to the season for LA, James was once again asked about retirement. He told the reporters he wasn't sure about his future and then doubled down on social media.

This summer, LeBron James signed a two-year, $104 million extension to remain with the Lakers. While the extension has a player option for the 2025-26 season, contractually, it appears as though fans are likely to see two more seasons from the four-time champion.
