"Two 7fts just casually chillin is crazy" - NBA fans raise eyebrows over Kevin Durant’s height in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar meet-up

Fans have frequently debated NBA superstar Kevin Durant's height, and it was highlighted again when he met and posed for a photo with 7'2" league legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at the Fanatics Fest in New York City on Saturday.

Currently listed at 6'11", Durant was pictured with almost the same height as the six-time NBA MVP and champion.

Many fans reacted by highlighting with conviction that Kevin Durant is far taller than his listed height, with one saying that Abdul-Jabbar and the Phoenix Suns superstar are bona-fide seven-footers:

There were those, meanwhile, who chose to rationalize things.

"'Kareem is 7'2" even at his older age and posture not perfect he's prolly 7'0.... He and KD are damn near the same height so KD to be at least 6'11?!?!?!!!', one fan underscored."

"I know Kareem is older now, and might not be as tall as he used to be ... but wow... not much of a height difference. I've only seen KD play once IRL, and it was a team USA game when one of his teammates was Tyson chandler. KD was the tallest guy on the court,' another user wrote.

Some fans highlighted the "greatness" of Kevin Durant for all he can do despite his towering height.

Abdul-Jabbar is at the Fanatics Fest to sign autographs, have photo-ops with fans and speak in a panel discussion. The event happens from Aug. 16 to 18.

Kevin Durant, meanwhile, is coming off another gold medal conquest with Team USA in the Olympics in Paris. It was the fourth straight time he had achieved the feat.

Kevin Durant maintains he is only 6'9"

The height issue vis-a-vis Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was just the latest surrounding Kevin Durant, who maintains he is only 6'9". During a photo-op with Team USA for the Paris Olympics, his height was put to the fore as he stood side-by-side with another seven-footer Joel Embiid.

In an interview with the "Up & Adams" show, uploaded on X on July 11, the two-time NBA champion said he was sure of his true height and suggested that maybe the other players were not.

He said:

"I'm 6'9" so those guys must be shorter than what they say... Embiid's not 7 feet."

Regardless of whether Kevin Durant is seven feet or not, there is no denying that he is one of the best tall guys the game has seen. For his career, spanning 18 years now, he has chalked up averages of 27.3 points, seven rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks.
