Reserve Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome exploded for 33 points, going 8-of-8 from three-point land and 11-of-14 from the field in their game on Friday in Philadelphia. It was, however, not enough to tow his team over Paul George and the hosts 76ers as they slumped to a 132-129 defeat.
The six-year veteran guard’s hot shooting complemented that of All-Star teammate Donovan Mitchell, who finished with a game-high 37 points, on 12-of-13 shooting and 7-of-15 from deep.
Ty Jerome scored 22 of his 33 points in the second half, where he went 5-of-5 from three and helped the Eastern Conference-leading Cavaliers stand toe-to-toe with the Sixers.
In the end, it was Philadelphia which stood triumphant, on the lead of George, who had a team-high 30 points. All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey had 29 of his own while Kelly Oubre Jr. had a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Ty Jerome's stats tonight against Philadelphia 76ers:
The 33 points he had against the Sixers were a career-high for Jerome, whose previous high was 29 points against the New Orleans Pelicans back in November. In the ongoing season, Jerome is averaging 10.4 points, 3.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 18 minutes per game.
Despite the loss, Cleveland continues to lead the East with a 36-8 record. The team next plays at home against the Houston Rockets.
Cavaliers coach impressed with Ty Jerome’s play
Playing in his second season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ty Jerome is flourishing in his role off the bench and has left coach Kenny Atkinson noticing.
Jerome signed with the Cavaliers in 2023 following stops in Phoenix, Oklahoma City and Golden State. He played limited minutes for the Cavaliers last season but has found himself in an expanded role with the team in the ongoing campaign.
In 18 minutes per contest, Jerome has been steady on both ends of the court, giving Cleveland more flexibility in the back court. This season, he has tallied career-highs in scoring, the latest on Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers, where he put up 33 points, built on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting from three.
In an interview earlier this season, Atkinson spoke about Jerome’s role this season and how they intend to use him.
The coach said (via Sports Illustrated):
“Ty’s 6-foot-5, right? He’s not a small guy. So we can also play him at two. I love having his IQ out there around the right lineups. He could be useful.”
Jerome starred for Virginia in college where he won a national title in 2019. After his collegiate career, he was selected in the first round and 24th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
His rights were traded to the Boston Celtics before he was shipped to the Phoenix Suns, where he spent his rookie season. He played the next three seasons with the OKC Thunder and Golden State Warriors before finding his way to Cleveland in 2023.
