Ja Morant has been active on social media despite having his 2023-24 season ended with a shoulder injury. He has not stopped supporting the Memphis Grizzlies on the sidelines or X, formerly Twitter. The two-time All-Star also consistently gave his thoughts about the NBA, particularly during the championship series between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.

“G12” even had a hilarious reaction when his team drafted on Wednesday collegiate hoops’ most dominant player over the past two years. He was back on X again on Thursday, but this time with a more cryptic message:

“until you’re broken you don’t know what you’re made of. it gives you the ability to build yourself all over again but stronger than ever”

Ja Morant might have allued to his tumultuous last two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. In March last year, he was suspended for eight games by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after a clip of him brandishing a gun inside a strip club became viral. Silver called his actions “conduct detrimental to the league.”

Besides the suspension and the fine, he failed to get All-NBA honors, forcing his disqualification from a supermax extension. Ja Morant likely lost $39 million because of that.

Two weeks later, Morant was back in the limelight due to another controversy. Another video of him flexing a gun while riding a vehicle became a hit on Instagram. This time, Silver suspended him for 25 games.

Ja Morant served the suspension to start the season. The Memphis Grizzlies had a 7-20 record without him on the court. However, he played only nine games upon his return after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

After roughly a season lost, Morant will be understandably eager to return to action and prove his worth. That might be the reason behind his cryptic message on X.

The Grizzlies will be hoping Ja Morant is better and stronger than ever

Ja Morant’s suspension and injury weren’t the only problems the Memphis Grizzlies couldn’t overcome last season. They practically played the 2024-25 campaign with a crippled roster. At one point, they had more than 10 players on the injury report, prompting them to get reinforcements from the G League.

The Western Conference next season will have another bloodbath, forcing the Grizzlies to retool. After trading Steven Adams to Houston last season, they drafted the towering Zach Edey to the roster. The team also added Cam Spencer out of UConn and Jaylen Wells, who are both obvious fits with their outside shooting.

How far the Memphis Grizzlies go, though, will depend on Ja Morant. The Grizzlies will get their identity and swag from the explosive point guard. Denver, Phoenix, Minnesota, New Orleans, the two Los Angeles teams, Houston and Golden State are not going anywhere.

To have at least a deep run in the playoffs, Memphis will be hoping Morant is better and stronger than ever.
