NBA executives on Victor Wembanyama's chances at MVP

Victor Wembanyama has been a phenom in the league ever since his debut last year. Taken as the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft by the Spurs, the Rookie of the Year has grown in stature ever since and is standing at 7-foot-4. After missing the playoffs last season despite a valiant effort, the Frenchman has been on a different level this year, especially with point guard Chris Paul alongside him.

According to reports from ESPN's Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst on Friday, many NBA players and executives feel Wembanyama could be voted as the league MVP if he leads the Spurs to a playoff appearance.

One executive shared his thoughts with Bontemps and Windhorst:

"What he's doing is just ridiculous, Say whatever you want about him meeting expectations; if he gets that roster to the playoffs, he should get MVP votes. And he might."

Victor Wembanyama is averaging 25.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in the Spurs' 18-19 campaign. Meanwhile, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander is also making a strong case for MVP as he continues to tear it up with his top-seeded OKC team (31-6) in the Western Conference.
