Victor Wembanyama has already established himself as one of the best players in the NBA in just his second season. Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are gunning for a playoff spot, and Wednesday's game was a big test for them. How did Wemby perform tonight against the No. 3 Memphis Grizzlies?

The French superstar finished the game with 13 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and eight blocks. He had a huge first half, recording all eight of his blocks there before making little impact in the final 24 minutes. He struggled shooting the ball, missing 14-of-19 shots.

San Antonio was in firm control in the first two quarters before allowing the Grizzlies to make the comeback. Everything fell apart quickly for the Spurs as they were outscored 78-52 in the second half.

Wemby received plenty of help from Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson, but they still lost 129-115.

How did Victor Wembanyama perform against the Memphis Grizzlies?

Victor Wembanyama started the game for the Spurs, alongside Chris Paul, Stephon Cassell, Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes. He made his presence felt in the first quarter with three blocks and limiting Jaren Jackson Jr. to just two points.

Wembanyama was not as aggressive on offense with just five points and four rebounds in nine minutes in the first period. However, he appeared to be heading towards another double-double, with the Spurs ahead 30-28 heading into the second quarter.

The reigning Rookie of the Year went scoreless in the second period, but his defense proved key to San Antonio's dominance. He had five blocks and continued to protect the paint, limiting JJJ to just five points on 11 shots.

Despite the double-digit advantage, the San Antonio Spurs had trouble containing Ja Morant and the rest of the Memphis Grizzlies. Victor Wembanyama's impressive first-half defense was negated in the second half.

Wemby failed to record a block in the final 24 minutes, while Jaren Jackson Jr. finally found his rhythm. He also scored just eight points in the second half, missing 14 shots. He failed to get to the free throw line, which should be the next part of his game that needs to develop.

The Grizzlies made it look easy in the second half, led by Ja Morant, who even had a poster dunk on Wembanyama that didn't count. It was a highlight reel play that would have broken the internet if it was an official play.

Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs have a chance for revenge on Friday when they host the Grizzlies again for the second time in three days. "Wemby" has to be aggressive from the get-go, especially on offense in the paint.
