Matt Ryan, the LA Lakers' sharpshooter, hit a game-tying 3-pointer for LA against the New Orleans Pelicans that sent the game into overtime. The Lakers won the game in overtime.
Matt Ryan is known for hitting 3-pointers at an elite level. The reason he's on the team is to do things just like this. Interestingly enough, he was a former DoorDash driver when he was out of basketball for a bit. His story is amazing and seeing him succeed is heartwarming from a fan and personal perspective.
Ray Allen, an NBA great, broke down what happened during the shot. Listening to Allen speak about these types of situations is amazing because he's arguably one of the greatest shooters who has ever played this game.

Breakdown of Matt Ryan’s 3 pointer
Ray Allen had the following to say about the game-tying shot:
"What's fascinating about that is because we all dream of hitting game winners, you do the countdown, and what happens is, kids don't get to that lift like they would get in this situation. And you're always trying to get that lift in your training because that's what happens. Like you see, he's been there before.
"He had to look down to see where he was on the line, on the court. But that's everything with this shot is he was able to get lift and get away to it, but he still had great lift on it."
Allen added:
"You know every time you walk in the that's what the release point is in that moment, in that situation. So to be able to come off the bench and take that shot and then make it, you know, sorry for the Pelicans."
As seen from the video, Ray Allen knows exactly what he's talking about. The pass to Ryan, the lift on his shot, and the dreams that all NBA players had as kids. Everyone dreams of moments like the one Matt Ryan had.
Ray Allen hit a similar shot on another team
The reason it's this interesting to hear Ray Allen's perspective on this shot is because of all the big-time shots he hit in his career. The biggest shot of his career was undoubtedly against the San Antonio Spurs, which secured the Miami Heat a must-win game in the NBA Finals.
Outside of Stephen Curry, there's a good chance that Ray Allen is the greatest shooter of all time. Some even say that Allen is the best of all time, arguing that isn't necessarily wrong.
Unfortunately, for Ray Allen, because Stephen Curry has broken nearly every 3-point record, it's tough to say that anyone's better. Allen has continued to stick around the game, just like many former NBA players.
Matt Ryan will look to continue doing big things for the Lakers and secure them much-needed wins as they look to make the playoffs.
