LeBron James is one of the most marketable individuals in the sporting world. Considering the value he has generated over the course of his career via jersey sales, shoe sales and other merchandise, James has become a solid brand.

Following in his footsteps, Bronny James has started making his move towards becoming marketable in his own right. By signing an NIL deal with Beats by Dre, Bronny became the first high school student-athlete to sign with the brand.

However, there is some degree of significance to this signing too. While the aspect of Bronny being their first student-athlete signing is huge in itself, he isn't the first in his family to sign with Beats.

LeBron James was the first athlete to sign with the brand in 2008. With this in mind, Bronny signing with the same brand garners more attention.

The two recently starred in a commercial for the brand's newest line of Fit Pro and Studio Buds earphones. LeBron and Bronny featured shooting hoops and throwing down dunks in a 1v1 setting.

The consistent audio transition between classical music and hip-hop appears to be representative of the generational difference. However, the sight of the two playing together and against one another is something basketball fans are eagerly looking forward to.

As mentioned earlier, Bronny is an NIL signing for the Beats by Dre brand. In this context, "NIL" stands from "Name-Image-Likeness". This kind of deal allows student-athletes to earn compensation from brands for using their name, image or likeness for marketing purposes.

At the age of 37, LeBron is still regarded as one of the best players in the league. Considering that he also recently signed a two-year contract extension with the LA Lakers this season, James fits the timeline to see Bronny's arrival in the NBA.

Meanwhile, Bronny James, who recently turned 18, is in his senior year of high school. While he has garnered a lot of attention from collegiate programs, Bronny hasn't committed to any as of yet.

With current CBA rules in place, Bronny will have to play at least one year of college basketball, overseas basketball or with the G League before he can be eligible for the draft. However, with certain expectations of the new CBA rules, high school students should be eligible to be drafted as early as the 2024 draft.
