Victor Wembanyama attempted to drive against Dillon Brooks with a little over nine minutes in the third quarter. The Houston Rockets enforcer tipped Wembanyama’s dribble, forcing the ball loose. They both went to the floor to battle for possession.

The referees simultaneously signaled a jump ball but the two refused to let go. Players from both teams seperated them while Brooks got into a confrontation with Spurs veteran Chris Paul.

Basketball fans promptly reacted to the scene:

“Brooks wants to be draymond so bad.”

Fans continued to troll Brooks:

“BROOKS POKING BEARS.”

Another fan said:

“Wemby owns that clown.”

The referees reviewed the play but no technical fouls were given. Following a jump ball between Victor Wembanyama and Dillon Brooks, the Spurs got possession. Harrison Barnes completed the sequence with a short jumper off an assist from Jeremy Sochan.

Wembanyama and Brooks know each other well. Last season, the Spurs and the Rockets faced each other four times. Brooks had more than his fair share of opportunities guarding “Wemby” and told reporters he wasn't impressed by the 7-foot-4 rookie. The two continued to tussle in the Olympics where Wembanyama’s French team beat the Canadians 82-73 in the quarter-finals.
