Jonathan Kuminga has long been the subject of trade chatter across the NBA. This season is no exception, as fans of the Golden State Warriors are going back and forth about Kuminga's trade prospects ahead of the 2025 trade deadline.
The Warriors' front office has plenty to think about as Feb. 6 approaches. Fans have opposing views on whether the 22-year-old forward — who has a $7.636 million cap hit this season, according to Spotrac — should be traded.
"Kuminga raising that trade value," one netizen said after Kuminga tied his career-high 34 points in a 109-105 win over the Phoenix Suns.

"Kuminga is not a team player trade him while his trade value is at its highest," said another.
Other fans, however, were of the mindset that other Golden State players should be dealt away, not Kuminga:
"Kuminga is staying, trade Wiggins," proposed one online user on X.
"Kuminga should not be tradable. Wiggins steph TJD draymond should also be there. Trade podz or others to build a better team," suggested another.
One Warriors die-hard leaned heavily on the sarcastic side when giving their take:
"You know what the hell with it lmao, trade Steph and give the Keys to Kuminga lmaoooo. Lets pursue a rebuild than maximizing the remaining years of a once in a generation type of an all time great Lmaoooooo," said this fan.
Thus far this season, Kuminga's numbers (16.1 ppg, 4.8 rbg, 2.1 apg) are pretty much identical to what he was putting up last season (16.1 ppg, 4.8 rbg, 2.2 apg). If there's any noticeable decline, that would be his shooting clip (44.7% from the field as opposed to nearly 53% last season) and his free throw percentage (63.2% versus 74.6% a season ago).
These numbers will continue to fuel the debate for Warriors fans over whether Kuminga should be moved on.
Jonathan Kuminga out, Jimmy Butler in?
While some fans have voiced their support for Jonathan Kuminga, one NBA analyst considers him expendable, even as the Warriors are being linked to a six-time All-Star.
On last Thursday's episode of "First Take," Andscape writer David Dennis Jr. strongly pushed for Golden State to go after the disgruntled Miami Heat forward:
"After what I've seen these last few games, especially yesterday, (Jonathan) Kuminga is just not cutting it, and I'm fine with getting rid of those guys to just get Jimmy Butler," said David Dennis Jr. "They are in a tailspin. ... Move Kuminga, move Wiggins, move whoever you got to."
With barely six weeks before the trade deadline, the Warriors front office will have to take a long, hard look at all their options if they want to rise to contender status once more.
