Jonathan Kuminga opened up about his situation with the Golden State Warriors, being in and out of the starting lineup. Former NBA player and current Phoenix Suns announcer Eddie Johnson was critical of Kuminga, who claimed that players would "quit" in his situation.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Johnson shared a snippet of Kuminga's quote in an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area. The Warriors forward mentioned being mentally tough in other situations, so the struggles in his NBA career is barely nothing.
Johnson called out the young player for thinking that not all athletes go through tough situations being under the spotlight.
"Wrong. Jonathan a majority of Professional athletes go through frustration and suffer depression in regard to everything including playing time, injuries and frustration with how they are used. Welcome to the league," Johnson tweeted.

For Eddie Johnson and other people online, NBA Central cropped the most important context of Jonathan Kuminga's comments. Kuminga was talking about the struggles of living in Congo, where political conflicts, war and genocide were happening.
The 22-year-old forward was alluding to the fact that he had to be mentally tough to go through everyday life in his own country. Now that he's playing basketball, he knows that there are more adversities out there in the world than being benched or losing playing time on the court.
Johnson got community noted, but instead of saying he didn't know the full context of the comments, he double-down.
"Pain and depression covers every level of issues! I am relating to what he said and not his situation sir. My message is to fight through it, like many athletes have done and are currently doing. Now go back and read what I said," Johnson tweeted.
Kuminga has had ups and downs in his young career. He has won a championship and has struggled for minutes despite his potential. He's set to enter restricted free agency this offseason, while also being linked to many trade rumors.
Steve Kerr sends subtle shot at Jonathan Kuminga
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was not happy with some of his "young players" despite beating the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. Kerr was not happy with their shot selection and selfish play.
Some even thought that it was directed at Jonathan Kuminga, as per CBS Sports.
"When you have Steph Curry on your team, you pass the ball," Kerr said. "Because -- pass it two or three times, the defense is scrambling, all hell breaks loose. So it's a choice: We can either do that and win games, or we can shoot a whole bunch of 15-foot contested shots in the middle of the shot clock and be a lousy NBA team.
Despite what happened, Kuminga got plenty of minutes in the Warriors' 111-105 loss to the Indiana Pacers. He also had a team-high 26 points off the bench.
