On October 25th, the new look Washington Wizards will start the regular season against the Indiana Pacers. Looking at their injury report, they could be without two of their key rotation players.
The biggest name on the Washington Wizards' injury report is Kyle Kuzma. After trading away Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis this offseason, the young forward was going to be a pillar for the franchise this season.
Kuzma missed the Wizards last two preseason games due to a calf contusion. Head coach Wes Unseld Jr. told reporters this week that Kuzma is expected to be in the lineup for the season opener.

Since coming over from the LA Lakers in 2021, Kuzma has been an All-Star caliber player in Washington. He is coming off a career year where he posted averages of 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Kuzma's production could take another leap this year as he'll be the focal point of the Wizards' offense next to Jordan Poole.
This offseason, Kuzma agreed to a $90 million extension that will keep him in Washington for the next four years. As the team prepares for a rebuild, he has the potential to be a key player for the next phase of the franchise.
Washington Wizards to be without rotation player for multiple weeks
Outside of Kyle Kuzma, another key name on the Washington Wizards injury report is sharpshooting guard Landry Shamet. He suffered a broken toe over the weekend, and is expected to be out of action for the next two to four weeks.
Since being drafted in 2018, Shamet has bounced around the league. He spent last season with the Phoenix Suns, but ended up becoming part of the return package for Bradley Beal this offseason.
Shamet had a chance to earn big minutes in Washignton's rotation, but now that will be delayed. As an effective three-point shooter and average defender, he'll likely be one of the main backup guards behind Jordan Poole and Tyus Jones. For his career, Shamet is averaging 8.9 points and shooting 38.8% from deep on good volume.
With Shamet out for possibly the next month, it opens up minutes for some younger players on the Wizards team. Among those who could see an uptick in playing time are Johnny Davis, Corey Kispert and recent top draft pick Bilal Coulibaly.
