Victor Wembanyama and Russell Westbrook briefly tangled during the San Antonio Spurs' 113-110 win over Denver Nuggets on Friday night and the two appeared to share a good-natured exchange in its aftermath.

Things started getting chippy between Russell Westbrook and Victor Wembanyama in the second quarter when the former NBA MVP flew into the current Rookie of the Year's back while contesting a fastbreak layup.

The 21-year-old Frenchman let the veteran guard know about it which seemed to bemuse the Nuggets' #4.

Shortly after, the broadcast showed another exchange between the pair where the duo were seen tapping each other in a humorous fashion

Wembanyama had the last laugh as his 35 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and two blocks propelled the Spurs (18-16) to eighth place in the West, only 1.5 games behind the Nuggets (19-14) in fourth place.

In his 100th game in the NBA, the French phenomenon outshone 3x MVP Nikola Jokic who had a near triple double, recording 41 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists. In the last possession of the game, the 7-foot-4 big man thwarted the Nuggets star's foray into the paint and set up Devin Vassell for an easy fast-break, sealing the game for the Spurs.

Victor Wembanyama already has a glowing resume and is the overwhelming favorite to win his first Defensive Player of the Year award and earn his first All-Star nod. He went past a slew of Hall of Famers to cap off his century of games, showing his dominance.

Nuggets coach Michael Malone frustrated as Victor Wembanyama sinks Denver

Even though Westbrook seemed unhappy with the outcome of his tangle, Nuggets coach Michael Malone pulled no punches discussing his team's capitulation in the final few minutes of the game. Jamal Murray also shouldered the blame for his team's underperformance in the post game press conference.

"Up by Five with 2 to go…can’t lose that lead. Victor Wembanyama had a big night” said Malone. “Usually we're really good in terms of closing and finishing games. We just weren't able to do it tonight. We got a chance to fly down there tomorrow and get it back." He added

Spurs and Nuggets will face off once again on Saturday in the second night of a back-to-back. Unlike the first game however, the two teams will play in the Spurs' Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
