Bol Bol had the home crowd going wild as he went on a relentless assault on Thursday night as the Orlando Magic hosted the Atlanta Hawks in a 135-124 home game victory.
The Magic's win over Atlanta now makes them one win away from hitting the 10-win mark. One of the highlights of the night was when Bol broke out some sick handles and finished with an emphatic dunk.
The mind-boggling play happened in the second quarter with four minutes remaining. It all started when AJ Griffin missed a three-point attempt. Bol Bol easily secured the rebound and scurried his way to the other side of the court. What got the crowd going was when Bol broke out the spin cycle and glided past three defenders, then finished with a rim-rattling dunk.

It's not every day that fans get to witness a player standing at 7-foot-2 showing off handles and converting afterward. Bol literally looked like a point guard in that sequence of events.
Bol Bol's sudden rise in Orlando
Bol Bol was a second-round pick drafted 44th overall by the Miami Heat back in 2019. He was immediately traded on draft night to the Denver Nuggets, whom Bol signed a two-way contract with. In his rookie season, he was only able to play seven NBA games. Within that time frame, he only managed to average 5.7 points and 2.7 rebounds.
Bol ended up staying with the Nuggets until 2021, however, he didn't really get many opportunities. In his next two seasons after his rookie year, the big man only played an average of 5.4 minutes per game. That's seven minutes less compared to his average of 12.4 minutes in his first year. To make things worse, he had a lower scoring average of 2.3 points from the 2020-2022 seasons.
Ever since moving to the Orlando Magic, Bol Bol has been given more opportunities to play. As a result, it appears Bol's career has been completely turned around for the better. He is now a starter for his team and has become a vital piece in the Magic's offense. Bol's performances may be inconsistent for now, however, which is way better compared to his first stint with the Nuggets.
As of December 15, he is currently averaging 12.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks. Bol has also achieved a career-high in points this season with 26 points. According to Stat Muse, he's had six 20-point games so far this year. At the rate he's going in, he might be able to make a good case for Most Improved Player of the Year.
