Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks blew a 13-point lead and lost to the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers 110-102. Antetokounmpo went just 4 of 15 from the free-throw line, which was a big reason why the Bucks lost the game.
After the game, “The Greek Freak” promptly went back to the court to work on his shot. Unfortunately, several Wells Fargo Arena employees were already working on the rim after the game had ended.
Here’s what the two-time MVP did when he was prevented by employees from practicing his free throws:

Giannis Antetokounmpo ultimately got his way while his brother tried to reason with some of the workers and a few of the security personnel. It’s unclear how many attempts “The Greek Freak” had or how long he was on the court before he was interrupted.
Philadelphia 76ers backup center, Montrezl Harrell watched Antetokounmpo attempt a few more shots before he took the ball away while yelling:
“This isn’t f**king Milwaukee. Get that sh*t outta here."
The game between the two playoff contenders was rough and physical right from the get-go. Joel Embiid, who went berserk against the Utah Jazz last Sunday, dished out as much punishment as he took. P.J. Tucker, a tough-as-nails player, repeatedly took it to Giannis Antetokounmpo in the post.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ back line composed of Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis, was just as physical. While most NBA teams are helpless against Embiid, the Bucks have both the size and skills to make life difficult for Philly’s superstar.
During the third quarter, Embiid bullied his way into the basket for a slam against Lopez before Giannis Antetokounmpo swatted the shot away. On the other end, “The Process” tried to level Antetokounmpo with an elbow during a fastbreak. The referees called for a flagrant foul on Embiid for his efforts.
With the heated back-and-forth going on in a tightly-contested game, Wells Fargo Arena fans took the noise to a different level in the fourth quarter. The rowdy crowd had the arena vibrating every time Antetokounmpo attempted a free throw.
Giannis Antetokounmpo looked pissed off due to the misses and immediately left the court after the game ended.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is on a career-worst free-throw shooting trajectory
For all his basketball brilliance, all-around versatility and defensive prowess, Giannis Antetokounmpo has never been a good shooter.
Before this season, he averaged 21.8 points on 28.8% shooting from long distance and 71.8% from the free-throw line. He is now averaging 29.5 points while hitting just 22.5% of his 3s and a horrific 58.7% of his freebies.
The antidote to Antetokounmpo’s marauding runs to the basket has previously been to wall him off. Opponents regularly dare him to shoot rather than open the lane for his nearly unstoppable drives to the rim.
Over the past few years, he has become quite decent, particularly with his free throws. The improvements have only made him an even bigger threat to dominate. With his Achilles heel rearing its ugly head, defenders could review old tricks in the book in trying to contain “The Greek Freak.”
The Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers will meet two more times before the playoffs. Expect more fireworks between the two teams, particularly if Antetokounmpo’s free-throw shooting does not improve.
