Ja Morant returned from a hip injury on Monday to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 123-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The former All-Star hasn’t seen action since Nov. 6 against the LA Lakers. Morant was on minute restriction in his return, but the hip issue could be on the rearview mirror now.

"G12" had the crowd on its feet following a play that also caused a sensation on social media:

Following a turnover by the Blazers, Scotty Pippen Jr. grabbed the loose ball and raced to the Grizzlies’ end of the court. Pippen drew the defense before dishing a nifty dime to a streaking Morant, who went up for a rim-rattling tomahawk dunk.

The Grizzlies bench and fans stood up to appreciate the highlight reel. Although Morant is known for his emphatic slams, fans can never get enough of his aerial attacks.

Ja Morant didn’t just aggressively attack the paint. He took what the defense gave him and played decoy when necessary. A few minutes after the dunk that still reverberated inside the arena, Morant had another impressive play.

The point guard drove into the teeth of Portland’s, forcing four players to collapse on him. After faking out one defender, he dropped a behind-the-back pass that left Brandon Clarke wide open for an uncontested layup.

After missing nine straight games with an injury, Morant seems healthy to lead the Memphis Grizzlies again.

Ja Morant had an efficient performance in first game back from hip injury

Ja Morant didn’t only razzle and dazzle in his first game back from a hip injury. He had a handful of highlight reels that showcased efficiency in his play. "G12" finished with 22 points on 6-for-12 shooting, including 2-for-3 from deep. Morant also made 8-of-10 free throw attempts.

Memphis’ franchise cornerstone also toyed with Portland’s defense. He went wherever he wanted and dished out a game-high 11 assists. Morant played 23 minutes, but his impact was all over the Grizzlies’ blowout win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Grizzlies will be in Memphis the entire week as they have three more home games. Fans will hope Morant can sustain his efficiency and stay on the court for a long period of time now.

Morant and Co. host the Detroit Pistons next at FedExForum on Wednesday.
