Klay Thompson scored a season-high 54 points on Monday night to lift the Golden State Warriors over the Atlanta Hawks 143-141 in double-overtime. It was Thompson's first 50-point game since returning from two serious injuries.
Thompson hit 10 3-point shots, while also adding seven rebounds and three assists. He hit a big shot at the end of the first overtime, but the Hawks forced a second one.
In the second extra session, Thompson was critical in giving the Warriors the lead heading into the final minutes. The Hawks tied the game with less than 10 seconds left in the game, but Kevon Looney saved the day with a game-winning putback at the buzzer.

Klay Thompson was clearly exhausted in his postgame interview. Thompson praised Kevon Looney for saving the game from going to a third overtime.
"My tank is on E (empty)," Thompson said. "Thank God for Kevon Looney, man. Oh my goodness, Kevon-juwon strikes again."
Looney finished the game with 14 points, 20 rebounds and four assists. Jordan Poole had 28 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Draymond Green added five points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Anthony Lamb was huge off the bench with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Golden State Warriors extend winning streak to five
The Golden State Warriors improved to 20-18 after their 143-141 double-overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks at Chase Center. The Warriors are now tied with the Phoenix Suns for eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
The defending champions also extended their winning streak to five games. They went undefeated in their five-game homestand following a disastrous road trip that included blowout losses to the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.
It has been a tough season for the Golden State Warriors. They struggled to start the season despite Steph Curry's best efforts. Curry then suffered an injury last month and still has no timetable for his return. Golden State are 6-3 since Curry went down with a partially dislocated shoulder.
The Warriors have three more games left on their current homestand. They will face the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns before a five-game road trip. In those five games, they will go up against the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
