In a closely contested game played without the Lakers' usual starters, Jamal Murray's late game heroics once again played spoilsport for the LA Lakers.

The Canadian star sunk a game-sealing three with 5.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to rubber stamp his credentials as a Lakers killer, this being his third game-winner against the purple and gold brigade.

Former MVP Russell Westbrook punctuated the win with a breakaway dunk after stealing the final inbounds pass of the game. With this fortunate victory, the Nuggets improved to 43-24 for the season, strengthening their grip on the second seed with several teams in the chasing pack.

Jamal Murray gives humorous response to HC Michael Malone's demand

In his post game press conference, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone emphasized the importance of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic to attempt more field goals to avoid further close shaves.

When asked about his coach's comments, Murray replied with candor and humor and expressed his excitement at getting to shoot the ball more in games. Murray also showered praise on his co-star Nikola Jokic and predicted a fourth Most Valuable Player Award for the Serbian sensation.

"I would love to shoot 25-30 times a night, but I'm also trying to win. I have the best player in the world, who is a three-time soon to be four-time MVP," said Murray, "I'm not going to force it, I might get to 25-30 shots that's all for me. It's on the flow of the game. I don't like to come down to force, especially when I have the teammates that I have."

Jamal Murray has shaken off his early season blues and revived Nuggets season with his stellar play. Denver Nuggets will look to keep their momentum going when they face off against the Wizards on Saturday night.
