LeBron James celebrated his birthday on Monday and is now the only 40-year-old playing in the NBA today. As part of his celebration, the LA Lakers gave him a warm greeting during practice. The Lakers gifted him with a birthday cake and a special birthday song led by none other than LeBron's son and teammate, Bronny James.

Bronny, alongside fellow Lakers rookies Dalton Knecht, Quincy Olivari and Armel Traoré, serenaded LeBron on his special day. While it was a heartwarming moment for the King, during the birthday song, LBJ humorously made sure his son didn't acknowledge him as his father in the greeting. LeBron then blew his cake and expressed his gratitude to the rest of the LA crew.

LeBron James says he can still play another five to seven seasons but won't

LeBron James is now 40 years old but is still considered to be one of the best basketball players in the NBA today. James is playing at an elite level, averaging 23.5 points, 9.0 assists and 7.9 rebounds. This is an incredible feat by LeBron especially considering how players his age never performed the way he did when they were still in the league.

Apparently, he believes that he can still play at the same level if he wants to. In a recent interview after his birthday celebration during the LA Lakers' practice, James said that it's possible for him to continue to play at an elite level. However, he isn't considering that as a possibility.

“To be honest, if I really wanted to, I could probably play this game at a high level probably for about another — it’s weird that I might say this — but probably about another five to seven years, if I wanted to,” James said. “But I’m not going to do that.”

LeBron James then said that he was already mentally prepared with the idea of retiring from basketball soon. He then clarified that he intends to retire with the Lakers.

“That would be the plan,” he said of staying with the Lakers. “I came here to play the last stage of my career and to finish it off here. But I’m also not silly or too jaded to know the business of the game as well, to know the business of basketball. But I think my relationship with this organization speaks for itself. And hopefully, I don’t got to go nowhere before my career is over.”

LeBron James will play as a 40-year-old for the first time on Tuesday. The LA Lakers' opponents are fitting for LeBron as they are set to take on his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
