LeBron James' former teammate says he's waiting to play alongside Bryce James
LeBron James has suggested retirement in recent years, but a former teammate disclosed another goal he hopes to reach before calling it a career. As he enters his 22nd NBA season, James will turn 40 next month.
He recently achieved a significant milestone by playing alongside his son, Bronny James, becoming the first father-son duo to ever play together in NBA history.
However, Isaiah Thomas, who played 19 games with LeBron — 15 with the Cavaliers and four with the Lakers — suggested that LeBron’s retirement might not come until he gets the chance to team up with his second son, Bryce James.
“What’s gonna be even crazier is when Bron plays with Bryce too.. Once he does that he’s retiring then lol. Now everything will be complete and ride off in the sunset 🤝🏾,” Thomas shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Retirement chatter first gained traction after the Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the 2022-23 playoffs.
Still, LeBron committed to the Lakers with a two-year extension ahead of the 2022-23 season, including a player option for 2024-25.
He later opted out of that deal and instead signed a fresh two-year contract with the Lakers this offseason, this time with a player option extending into the 2025-26 season.
