Nikola Jokic and Denver Nuggets will cap off a brilliant season with at least a Finals appearance
Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets had a remarkable regular season. They executed their plans to perfection right from the offseason. They improved their roster by adding pieces like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown Jr.
Meanwhile, Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. returned from injuries to bolster the team's shot at winning a chip. The Nuggets started hot and finished the season as the Western Conference leaders, boasting a 53-29 record.
Nikola Jokic produced one of his best seasons, averaging 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 9.8 assists, finishing second in the MVP voting. Murray and Porter found their rhythm as the season progressed. The former tallied 20.0 points and 6.2 assists, while the latter averaged 17.4 points per game.
Murray significantly upped his averages in the postseason, averaging 27.9 PPG. The two leaders of the team have been nearly unstoppable. They dominated duos like Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker and LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the Western Conference.
Jokic and co. also shut down their critics who believe the Nuggets might not have what it takes to achieve postseason success. However, Denver tuned into the best version of themselves on both ends of the floor come playoff time, which helped their progress big time.
They will likely enter the Finals as the favorites, and rightly so. The Nuggets have by far been the most clinical team and are in contention to win their maiden championship title.
