In one of the NBA's defining moves of the offseason, Paul George signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, leaving the Los Angeles Clippers after a drama-riddled negotiating process.

George joins Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in Philadelphia on a four-year, $212 million max deal. On Tuesday afternoon, the nine-time All-Star debuted his 76ers threads with his new No. 8 jersey.

George said earlier on his podcast "Podcast P with Paul George" that his new jersey number is a tribute to the late great Kobe Bryant, who dawned the number from 1996-2005 for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 76ers formed one of the best big threes in the NBA with the addition of George and greatly improved their title odds from as high as +1400 down to +800 following George's addition. Notably, those are now the second-best odds in the NBA behind the reigning champions Boston Celtics.

Philadelphia also resigned Tyrese Maxey to a max deal for five years worth $204 million, as well as Kelly Oubre Jr. on a two-year, $16.3 million deal.

Paul George and the 76ers now have a strong enough core to compete with teams like Boston in the Eastern Conference and could find themselves in the NBA Finals with the talent now available on their roster.

Paul George felt 'disrespected' by Clippers offer entering free agency

Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers had a complicated negotiating period this offseason, with George saying he felt "disrespected" by the team's initial offer of two years, $60 million.

On an episode of "Podcast P with Paul George", he said:

"As it played out though, the first initial deal was I thought kind of disrespectful. In all of this, no hard feelings, no love lost, it's a business. So the first initial deal was like two years, 60. So I'm like whoa, whoa, whoa. That's crazy. I'm like, 'Naw, I'm not signing that.'"

Los Angeles also shopped Paul George, nearly striking a deal with the Golden State Warriors. The deal reportedly fell through due to Golden State's hesitance to move off of Jonathan Kuminga in a trade.

Last season, George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting a career-high 47.1% from the field. Furthermore, George's 41.3% clip from 3-point range was also a career-high.

Paul George's veteran experience and offensive versatility could help turn the 76ers into legitimate title contenders and help contend for the top seed in the Eastern Conference if they can stay healthy.
