Former NFL great Deion Sanders' star quarterback son Shedeur Sanders was one of the marquee names attending the Dallas Mavericks vs. Denver Nuggets clash on Tuesday at the American Airlines Center. Sanders's showing adds to the buzz after reports emerged linking his father to being the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Colorado Buffaloes star was seen wearing a crisp white hoodie and signaling to his watch with a grin when the cameras panned on him. His appearance on the jumbotron garnered huge applause from the fans.

Just hours after the Cowboys and their head coach Mike McCarthy agreed to part ways, reports said team owner Jerry Jones reached out to Sanders about the vacancy. While the Buffaloes HC has remained keen on remaining at the collegiate level, Shedeur Sanders' father is expected to have "some interest," in the role.

On the game front, the Mavericks are in the middle of a Nuggets pummeling. At the time of writing, they trail 82-56, with the third quarter halfway through.

Mavericks and other Texas teams are on the rise this season

Texas' three NBA teams — the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and the San Antonio Spurs have seen better days this season. The Mavericks have been one of those teams pegged to make a deeper run in the playoffs after their NBA Finals appearance last edition. The Houston Rockets, led by Ime Udoka, have been a force and their quality basketball sees them placed second in the West.

The San Antonio Spurs led by Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul are not far from clinching a playoff berth as their vastly improved record compared to last year sees them contend for an eighth-seed berth. The Rockets are 26-12 to take second while the Mavericks, despite the loss to the Nuggets, sit sixth with a 22-18 record.

The Spurs staged a massive upset, winning 126-102 over the LA Lakers earlier this week to improve to 19-19 and surpass the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, and Golden State Warriors (placed 10th, 11th, and 12th, respectively). It's safe to say that all three teams from Texas are legitimate playoff contenders given the kind of ball that's been played so far this season.

Up next, Dallas plays the New Orleans Pelicans while the Spurs and the Rockets take on the Grizzlies and the Nuggets, respectively. Expect all three matchups to be crackers as the Texas sides look to continue their good streak.
