Steph Curry is probably one of the best to land a basketball in a hoop, and this summer we'll see him do it with the 3-point line a touch closer. The Golden State Warriors guard showed off on Monday, draining 16 consecutive threes in one minute during the Team USA minicamp in Las Vegas.
"Steph with a FIBA three-point line...that's a scary sight," wrote the Golden State Warriors official page on X.
In the NBA, at the top of the arc, the 3-point line extends 23 feet and 9 inches from the hoop. In the corners, that rounds out to 22 feet, the longest 3-point line in professional basketball.

On a FIBA basketball court, however, the dimensions are different, along with the basketball itself and a select number of in-game rules. So for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Steph Curry and Team USA will be scoring three points from just 22 feet and two inches at the top of the key, over a foot and a half shorter.
It's the same length as the WNBA 3-point line, and almost a foot and a half longer than the NCAA 3-point line from the center of the hoop.
For a player like Curry, even a slight decrease in length could spell nightmares for opposing teams. He hasn't played FIBA basketball since the 2014 World Cup in Spain, but since then, he's won four championships and became the league's all-time leader in 3-pointers made.
He wasn't established enough to be a part of an unstoppable 2012 Olympic roster and opted out of the 2016 Olympics because he wasn't healthy enough to take on the tournament. In 2020, he decided not to take part in the Olympics. But after a dismal showing on the international stage at the 2023 FIBA World Cup last year, it seems the USA's top players are all in on chasing gold in Paris.
In 2014, he nailed just 21 threes over 9 games with the 24th-best three-point field goal percentage. He also played for Team USA in 2010, but only played 10 minutes per game and hit just 7 threes in 8 games. Over his NBA career, he averages 3.9 threes per game.
For someone who's influenced the game of basketball as much as him, fans all over the world would erupt for a classic Steph Curry outburst in Paris this summer.
Curry had a brief visit with team medics to check out his hand, but said it was just a little blood and he's good to go. He also used the Team USA minicamp to show off his newest signature Under Armour shoeline.
Steph Curry speaks on Klay Thompson's departure
It's perhaps one of the saddest offseasons for Steph Curry, who will play without Thompson for the first time since he entered the league in 2011. Thompson signed a 3-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks, and although he said it's not what he always expected, he understands.
"You have to be able to celebrate what we accomplished, but then be able to move on," Steph Curry said to ESPN's Malika Andrews Monday.
The Warriors are filling the gap with sharpshooter Buddy Hield, who shot 38.9 percent from deep for the Philadelphia 76ers last year.
