Video footage of the incident leading up to NBA big man Jaxson Hayes' scuffle with police from 2021 has now surfaced online. At the time, body camera footage of an altercation between Hayes and members of the LAPD was made public following a domestic disturbance call.
Now, video footage of the domestic disturbance from the same night, about an hour before Jaxson Hayes' altercation with police, has been made public. In it, Hayes' ex-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, can be heard saying that she doesn't feel safe while trying to leave the house.
When she then turns and goes to another room, she can be heard telling Hayes not to touch her repeatedly before then telling him to let go of her. After several minutes off-camera, outdoor video footage can be seen, with Jamora heard telling Hayes that she won't let him hit her anymore:
"I'm not going to let you hit me any more, what do I look like a punching bag?"

After telling the NBA big man to leave, Hayes then shoves her aside and spits in her direction before Jamora tells Hayes' cousin that if he doesn't get Hayes out of the house, she will call the cops.
Footage from inside then shows Hayes breaking something before leaving and then returning to overturn furniture. Once police arrived, they were involved in a scuffle with Hayes leading to the LAPD using a taser on him twice.
All eyes on the NBA after latest update regarding Jaxson Hayes' domestic assault lawsuit
When police arrived at Sofia Jamora's house, Hayes reportedly refused to exit the house so that they could question him regarding the call. After Hayes shoved an officer, things escalated, with several LAPD members taking him down and using a taser to get him into custody.
The incident led to Jamora filing a lawsuit against Hayes for false imprisonment given that he prevented her from leaving, and for assault given the bruising she sustained during the ordeal.
After pleading 'no contest', Jaxson Hayes wound up being sentenced to probation, community service and weekly domestic violence classes. However, despite that, the NBA didn't suspend him.
While he settled his legal case by pleading no contest, he is still facing a lawsuit from Jamora for assault and false imprisonment. With the latest development in the case, and the footage of Jaxson Hayes' incident with Sofia Jamora, all eyes are now on the NBA.
The league could wind up opening a new investigation and suspending Hayes given the new evidence that has come to light, or they could wait to see how the lawsuit plays out.
So far, no comment yet from the Lakers big man as he prepares for Monday's road game against the Detroit Pistons.
