Dwight Howard jokes trio including him, Quinn Cook and DeMarcus Cousins will dominate more than Michael Jordan-led Bulls

NBA legend Dwight Howard has been tearing it up in Asian leagues in the past two years. In The Asian Tournament next month, he will be reinforced by his old teammates, DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook, to play for the Taiwan Mustangs.

It will be a reunion for the three former NBA players, as they were part of the Los Angeles Lakers that won the 2020 NBA championship in the Orlando bubble during the pandemic.

On X, Howard shared his thoughts about their reunion with the Taiwanese team, joking about how they could dominate the competition, like how the Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, ruled the NBA in the 1990s.

“We better though😎,” Howard captioned the post.

The post included a picture of the former LA trio wearing the Lakers jersey from their championship run four years ago. The other photo showed Jordan, Pippen and Rodman posing with their iconic 1990s uniforms.

While Howard was sarcastic in his post, he, Cousins and Cook have shown they could dominate the game on Asian soil.

In his previous stint in Taiwan’s T1 league, Howard averaged 23.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists for the Taoyuan Beer Leopards in the 2022-23 season.

Cousins succeeded Howard in the Leopards, leading the team to the T1 championship this year. Cousins bagged the Finals MVP honors after recording 24 points and 24 rebounds in the championship game.

Cook, meanwhile, has been bouncing around the Puerto Rican league in 2024 but also played in Asia, particularly in the Chinese Basketball Association in 2022. He once scored 54 points in just 29 minutes in a game with the Zhejiang Lions.

Cousins last played in the NBA two years ago, while Cook had a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021 through a 10-day contract.

Their team will face squads from the Philippines, China, South Korea and Japan in The Asian Tournament.

Dwight Howard owns part of The Asian Tournament

Not only is Dwight Howard reuniting with his former teammates in the Taiwan Mustangs, but he is also competing in his own league.

Howard announced his ownership of the league in an Instagram post on May 30.

In the post, Howard said this was one of his visions when he traveled to play in Asia. He plans to bring in as much NBA talent as possible in the league.
