"We are trash man": Disgruntled Lakers fans react to preseason schedule with Warriors just 17 days after playoff loss

NBA: Playoffs-Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets
LA Lakers fans react to news of team's preseason schedule just over two weeks after playoff loss

Many LA Lakers fans weren't too happy to see the team announce their home-slate of preseason games for the 2024-25 season this week. Just 17 days after the team was eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the franchise is already looking to build hype around next season. Nevertheless, many fans are still upset about the 2023-24 season.

Early on in the season the team seemed to be hitting their stride, with LeBron James turning back the clock for a number of memorable performances. While shooting a career-high from downtown, James fueled the team to an NBA Cup win, giving many fans hope that the team could contend for a title.

However, as the season progressed it became increasingly clear that the team had to work through some kinks if they hoped to make a deep playoff run. Inconsistent play and a lack of late-game coaching adjustments sparked frustration among fans, who felt as though things were getting worse instead of better.

Following their first-round exit to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs, fans wanted little to do with the franchise's announcement regarding the 2024-25 preseason.

After a post on social media revealed three October dates for preseason games, fans hit the comments section to voice their opinions.

Looking at the LA Lakers' potential offseason moves amid release of 2024-25 preseason schedule

Before the LA Lakers and their fans shift their focus to the 2024-25 preseason, the group could undergo a bit of an overhaul in the months to come. As fans are well aware, a number of names have question marks hanging overheard.

For example, LeBron James could wind up opting out of the final year of his $51.4 million extension, opening up the door to a flood of free agency offers. At the same time, it appears as though standout guard D'Angelo Russell is likely to hit free agency as well.

Moreover, there have been rumors that longtime NBA star Donovan Mitchell could be on his way out of Cleveland. That has sparked plenty of talk regarding the possibility of Mitchell packing his bags and joining LeBron James & Anthony Davis in LA.

While nothing has been made official, Brian Windhorst revealed recently that both the Lakers and the Nets have offers ready for Mitchell. This would likely only be possible if the Lakers were to part ways with some combination of Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, Gabe Vincent and in some cases roleplayers as well.

Considering the hurdles the team would have to clear regarding their cap space, whether or not a deal comes to fruition remains to be seen.

Last, but certainly not least, the LA Lakers are also potentially parting ways with Darvin Ham, raising questions about an adjustment period next season. With plenty up in the air and several months to figure things out, the Lakers will have their hands full between now and October.
