Paul Millsap, a 16-year veteran and four-time All-Star, retired from basketball at the age of 39, ESPN's Shams Charania announced on Tuesday. Millsap played for several teams throughout his NBA career, including the Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers.

"I remember how badly I wanted him to come to Chicago back in the day. Enjoy retirement," a fan commented.

Most of the fans on X felt the same way as they praised Paul Millsap on his impressive career.

"Hell of a career. 16 years from the #47 pick is incredible," a fan wrote.
"One of the most underrated players of his era. Dude was a defensive monster who adapted his game to the modern NBA and always showed up. Happy retirement, Paul!!," another fan added.
"End of an era. Congrats to Millsap on an incredible career!," a fan wrote.

Millsap's most successful period in the NBA was his four-year stint with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013-2017. He made the All-Star team in each of the four seasons with the Hawks, averaging 17.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

As Shams Charania noted in his post, Millsap is one of just eight NBA players all-time to finish with 500 3-pointers, 1,000 blocks, and 1,000 steals in their career.

Millsap began his career with the Utah Jazz, where he was selected with the 47th pick in the 2006 draft. Like every second-round pick, he started off as a reserve player before rising through the ranks to be a full-time starter in 2010. He then left for the Hawks in 2013.

The Hawks were playoff contenders during his time in Atlanta. He was a part of their franchise-best 60-win team, which reached the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2014-2015 season.

After departing Atlanta, he went on to play for the Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers.

Last summer, Millsap took part in the BIG3 league. He was the captain of the Aliens team, playing alongside his brothers, John and Abraham.
