Dwight Howard has reacted to TikTok getting shut down in the United States late Saturday after the law banning the app was enforced. Howard has around 1.2 million subscribers on the social media platform, but it seems like he has a backup plan.

In a post on Instagram, the one-time NBA champion seemingly mocked the $100 billion-worth app by singing about the ban. He also shared a reel saying that he did everything he could for TikTok, while encouraging his 3.6 million IG followers to join him on Snapchat.

"Welp I gave Tiktok everything I had 😭 add my snap though: Reeldeeldeebo12 👻," Howard wrote.

Dwight Howard is one of 170 million users of TikTok in the United States affected by the government ban. According to NBC News, the social media app shut down late Saturday, with the ban becoming official the next day.

The main reason for the ban is its association with Bytedance, a Chinese technology company. Other apps part of the ban include CapCut, Lemon8 and Gauth. Many lawmakers are worried that it could be used for espionage.

President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on Monday, is expected to give TikTok a 90-day extension. However, Trump wants Bytedance to sell the social media platform, which might not happen, so it will likely get banned again on April 29.

Quite possibly the most popular NBA player on TikTok is Jared McCain of the Philadelphia 76ers. McCain, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury, has 4.2 million subscribers on the platform.

Dwight Howard last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season with the LA Lakers. He has campaigned to return over the past few years, including a workout with the Golden State Warriors.

However, the 39-year-old big man has only played overseas over the past three seasons. He joined the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League in Taiwan in late 2022 before moving to the Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico but never played a game there.

Howard then signed with Strong Group Athletics in the Philippines and participated in a private tournament in Dubai. He also joined the Taiwan Mustangs of The Asian Tournament, where he also served as a part-owner. He's interested in playing in the NBL in Australia and PBA in the Philippines as well.

The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year's latest venture was not on the court. It was on the dance floor, joining the 33rd season of Dancing with the Stars. Howard went viral several times for his performances with Daniella Karagach but failed to make it to the top five.
