Cam Whitmore turned up the heat in the Washington Wizards vs Houston Rockets summer league game on Sunday. The Rockets player went up and poster dunked on Wizards rookie Alex Sarr, the seven-footed second-overall pick of the 2024 draft.
The Rockets uploaded the video of the nasty dunk on their official X/Twitter handle with the caption:

In the video, Whitmore was seen cutting inside the paint and receiving an incredible pass from a deep position courtesy of Rockets rookie Reed Sheppard. As soon as Whitmore got the ball, he leapt and slammed it right in the basket over Sarr's head. Sarr struggled to find his balance after an unsuccessful block attempt.
Fans shared their reactions online after witnessing this interaction:
"Cam is so damn good," @nbaandwweguy said.
"ON HIS FKN HEAD LOOK AT CAM," @CookedbyAB said.
While some praised Whitmore for his incredible dunk, others criticized Sarr:
"This is not France Mr Sarr," @happyaddyxt said.
"Damn Alex Sarr really a bust man," @OskarBakweSZN said.
"The Wizards are gonna regret taking Alex Sarr over Reed Shepard," @RealSporu said.
Whitmore dropped 25 points in the game while Sheppard scored 22. Sarr, who is one of the most anticipated rookies, scored only eight points and four rebounds.
Cam Whitmore-Reed Sheppard's chemistry can spell trouble for other teams in the NBA
Whitmore had a great rookie season in the NBA last year, as the former Villanova player averaged 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists. However, he struggled to find a duo he could rock with on the Houston camp. He had a brief partnership with Jalen Green but that did not yield their expected results.
With the recent inclusion of Sheppard to the Rockets, it looks like Whitmore found a great on-court match. Sheppard's arrival has already boosted Whitmore's effectiveness on the court as the two secured back-to-back wins for their team in the summer league.
Sheppard provides great passes to the twentieth pick from the 2023 draft and gives him an opening to shine with his string dunking ability under the rim.
Whitmore is excellent at cutting inside and finding space in the paint. He positions himself in a great place ready to receive a pass and instantly go on the offense. With Sheppard and his incredible passing prowess, he has rejuvenated Whitmore's game.
Their pick and roll is seen as a threat to many teams and this Rockets duo can create a lot of buzz once the regular season starts.
