Team USA's summer minicamp is underway in Las Vegas. On Sunday, the second day of practice, Kevin Durant suffered a minor calf strain and was held off the court, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.

As per Washington Post's Ben Golliver, the team has listed Durant as "day-to-day" and will sit out of the camp "out of an abundance of caution."

“I think [Durant] tweaked it a few days before he got here. It’s not bad," Kerr said.

The injury is not considered serious, but the team has until July 28 to replace him if needed.

Durant holds the record for most points scored in a USA jersey and has averaged 19.8 points per game for his country over 22 appearances. He won Olympic gold medals in 2012, 2016 and 2020 and earned Olympics MVP honors in 2020. He was also the 2010 FIBA World Championship MVP and USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year in 2010, 2016 and 2021.

Durant is looking to be the first-ever four-time gold medalist in men's Olympic basketball this summer. Team USA has rolled out a star-studded roster following a poor showing on the international stage at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Who could replace Durant, if necessary?

If the team needs to find another forward for the Olympics, the most suitable replacement for the two-time champion would be Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown. Brown is coming off a championship season that saw him take home Finals MVP honors. The two-way explosive wing averaged 23.0 ppg last season while shooting 49.9 percent from the field.

The newest star member of the Philadelphia 76ers, Paul George, could also be a viable candidate. Another strong choice would be Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, or, if the team wanted to tap into some younger, bigger talent, they could opt for Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes or Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero to provide energy off the bench.
