What are LeBron James’ lowest-scoring NBA games? Looking at the last time 4x NBA MVP scored in single digits

Oklahoma City Thunder v Los Angeles Lakers
When was the last time LeBron James scored in single digits?

LeBron James made history against the OKC Thunder by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s scoring king.

Throughout his career, LeBron James has maintained a healthy scoring pace, averaging more than 20 points per game each of his 20 seasons. Still, LeBron has various other aspects to his game, including his playmaking and defensive skills, and has never wanted to be singled out for his scoring prowess alone.

This season, at the age of 38, LeBron is averaging 30.2 ppg, which makes for surreal reading when one considers the debate around his scoring exploits. Like every player who has enjoyed a long and successful career, the King has also had a number of bad games where he was unable to score even in double digits despite playing more than enough minutes.

This article looks at James’ lowest-scoring games in his career.

When was the last time LeBron James scored in single digits?

#5, 8 points, Milwaukee Bucks, May 2007

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks easily as Drew Gooden and Larry Hughes took up the bulk of the scoring, which was a rare occasion. LeBron James played more than 42 minutes but could only get one of his 13 field goal attempts on target.

Still, his team easily won, and James put in a huge effort defensively. That was the last time LeBron scored in single digits.

#4, 7 points, Denver Nuggets, November 2003

In LeBron James’ rookie season, he came up against a talented Denver Nuggets team which had a young Carmelo Anthony alongside Andre Miller and Voshon Lenard. The Cleveland Cavaliers were off to a poor 0-4 start to the season and had not yet started playing around James. The team lost 93-89 despite LeBron showing huge potential with seven points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

#3, 6 points, Detroit Pistons, November 2003

A couple of weeks after the above game, LeBron came up against a Detroit Pistons team that was one of the title contenders that season. The Pistons had Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton and made an easy game of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who entered with a 4-11 record.

LeBron made only 2 of his 11 attempts and also had seven assists .

#2, 4 points, LA Clippers, November 2003

Most of LeBron's worst games in terms of points came during his first season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers were only trying to recognize LeBron James' generational brilliance and even tried to shuffle him around positions.

That was true against the LA Clippers, where LeBron James played center and had one of his worst games of the season. He finished with four points, eight assists and six rebounds and was shuffled to make space for Carlos Boozer, who finished with 14 points and 21 rebounds.

#1, 3 points, Houston Rockets, December 2004

While statistically this was the worst game that LeBron James had in which he played at least 15 minutes, LeBron had an undisclosed issue and was playing through pain. The Cleveland Cavaliers had accepted the fact that the team would be built around LeBron for as long as he was with the franchise and were enjoying a winning 17-11 start to the season.

The Cavaliers were against a talented lineup that boasted of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. The Rockets were able to post a comfortable win after restricting LeBron James to just three points. He played for more than 17 minutes, could not make a single field goal and had five assists.
