Lonzo Ball is one of the best point guards in the league, which is why the Chicago Bulls pursued him during the 2020 offseason. Ball's progress, however, has been stalled by a series of injuries.
In the summer of 2020, Ball left the New Orleans Pelicans to join the Bulls. He signed a four-year $85 million deal through a sign-and-trade. This season is the second of his four-year deal and he will earn over $19 million. The final year of his deal could see him earn up to $21.3 million, if he picks up his player option.
Once his contract is over, he'll be an unrestricted free agent, which allows him to sign with any team. According to Spotrac, Ball's contract will expire in the 2024-25 season.

So far, Ball has only played 35 games over the course of two seasons. He hasn't played a single game in the 2022-23 campaign due to a serious knee injury. The Bulls have been mediocre in his absence and are likely to miss the playoffs.

What's the latest update on Lonzo Ball?
Earlier today, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that there are concerns about Ball's current condition. He's expected to undergo a third surgery, which could cause him to miss another full season. The Bulls are hoping that the surgery will allow Ball to resume his basketball career.
It would be unfortunate to see a player like Ball end his NBA career through a series of injuries. Hopefully, the point guard gets a chance to resume his career, even if it is after a couple of years.
Through five seasons, Ball has averaged 11.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
