Following his strong preseason, Golden State Warriors wing Moses Moody has reportedly agreed to a contract extension ahead of his fourth NBA season.

Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Moody, entering the final year of his rookie deal ($5.8 million), signed a three-year, $39 million extension on Sunday. The contract locks him up in Golden State until the end of the 2027-28 NBA season.

Since being selected No. 14 in the 2021 NBA draft, Moses Moody has increased his production throughout his first three campaigns. He has developed into a solid bench piece for Warriors coach Steve Kerr, receiving occasional starting opportunities.

Over 66 outings last season, Moody averaged 8.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.1 3-pointers per game, shooting 46.2%, including 36.0% from deep.

The fourth-year wing followed that up by demonstrating marked improvement during this year's preseason. Across six contests, he averaged a team-best 15.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.7 spg and 2.2 3pg, shooting 45.6%, including 39.4% from outside. Meanwhile, Golden State finished with a league-best 6-0 exhibition record.

Steve Kerr on Moses Moody's standout preseason and chances of earning bigger role during 2024-25 NBA season

Ahead of Moses Moody's contract extension, Steve Kerr raved about his preseason impact.

According to Kerr, Moody played with peak confidence across Golden State's six-game exhibition schedule.

"He's playing great," Kerr said. "He's gotten so much better in so many ways. We've always loved his character, his work ethic. This is the most confidence he's played with."

Kerr noted that Moody will play "a big role" for the Warriors this season. However, he added that "a lot of other guys" also deserve playing time, making his job difficult.

"We're sitting in that coaches' room every day saying, 'How are we going to play all these guys?' Because they all deserve to play," Kerr said. "I've asked all of them to play their hardest, make it difficult for us."

Golden State has playing time available on the wing following veteran sharpshooter Klay Thompson's free agency departure to the Dallas Mavericks. Numerous role players are expected to soak up his minutes, including Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, De'Anthony Melton and Moses Moody.

However, given Moody's impressive preseason play, he appears to have already won over his coach.

Moody and the new-look Warriors will look to build upon last season's 10th-place Western Conference finish (46-36) and return to playoff contention.
