LeBron James' decision to represent Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics has brought a lot of fanfare and excitement among fans. 'King James' last represented the USA in 2012 and is one of three Americans to play in three Olympic Games in men's basketball (the other two are Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony).

In his first Olympics in 2004, LeBron was assigned the number 9 jersey. When he last represented the USA, he chose the number '6', which at the time was also his number for the Miami Heat. Many fans are curious to know what jersey number LeBron will choose to wear in Paris.
Currently, LeBron wears '23' for the Lakers and has owned that number since the 2021-22 NBA season. Before that, he wore '6' between the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seaons and his Lakers co-star Anthony Davis wore 23.

The NBA retired the number 6 jersey league-wide in honor of Celtics great Bill Russell in 2022. After this unprecedented move, LeBron was forced to switch back to his number 23 for the Lakers.
However, this rule does not apply to FIBA regulated competitions, where players are allowed to wear number 6. Therefore, LeBron James is returning to jersey number 6 for the 2024 Olympics.
Team USA jerseys and jersey numbers
Team USA jersey numbers were confirmed by Nike on Wednesday with Kevin Durant and A'ja Wilson as the faces of the marketing campaign.
Team USA star Kevin Durant modeled the white jersey, which features a navy trim on the sleeves and sides, the USA flag on the left shoulder and a special patch bearing the words "Sparks of Destiny" on the bottom right corner of the jersey.
Las Vegas Aces A'ja Wilson modeled the red jersey, which features black and white trim near the sleeves and a navy stripe down the side. There is also a special patch bearing the words "Embers of Dynasty" on the bottom right of the front.
