What is Victor Wembanyama's NBA2K rating? First look at Spurs Center's gameplay images dropped

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is preparing to help lead Team France in the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside Rudy Gobert. In the meantime, NBA 2K has begun taking preorders on NBA 2K25, set to release in September. This year, Victor Wembanyama will be an 89 overall, up from an 84 overall in NBA 2K24.

Despite the studio announcing a release date, 2K has yet to drop a gameplay trailer, frustrating some NBA fans who want to see game footage before preordering. Despite that, an in-game screenshot of Victor Wembanyama was released on Friday.

The photo posted by the verified NBA2K account on X, formerly known as Twitter, received mixed reviews from fans. As in years past, many have been frustrated with the overly sweaty, high-gloss texture that 2K has used for players.

While there seems to be more pessimism surrounding NBA 2K25 than previous iterations due to microtransactions and no gameplay footage, fans have expressed excitement about Wembanyama, who has been dubbed a "cheat code" given his versatility and size.

How Victor Wembanyama's impressive growth has been reflected in his NBA 2K25 rating

Last year, Victor Wembanyama took the NBA by storm, cementing his place in NBA history with some remarkable performances. In late March, he became the first rookie to record a 40+ point, 20+ rebound game since Shaquille O'Neal in 1993.

He also became just the third player in NBA history to record 1,000 points and 150 blocks through his first 50 games, again following the rookie footsteps of O'Neal.

Wemby was the first player in NBA history to record 1,000 points, 150 blocks, and 150 assists through 50 games, making his presence felt on both ends of the floor.

These performances led to an improvement in his NBA 2K rating throughout the 2023-24 NBA season, however, after the end of the regular season, 2K Studios no longer updates player ratings.

Because of that, Wembanyama's recent growth leading up to the Olympics wasn't reflected in his NBA 2K24 rating. By the time NBA 2K25 is released, however, Wembanyama will be fresh off the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he's already shown growth since the end of last season.

Throughout France's Olympic Friendly warmup games, Wembanyama has continued to impress leading up to the Group Phase of the Olympics on Jul. 27.

Assuming he dominates in the Olympics the same way he's dominated the International Friendly games thus far, he could wind up seeing his overall NBA 2K25 rating bumped up to 90, or higher, before launch.
