The USA Basketball men's team accomplished its mission of bagging a fifth straight Olympic gold medal with its 98-87 victory over host France in the finals of the 2024 Paris Games on Saturday. Apart from the gold medal and bragging rights as the best in the world, Team USA players are set to be rewarded for their efforts in winning the gold medal.
The rewards come in different forms, including direct payments offered by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The amount may not be as huge as those the players earn in the NBA, but it is still considerable when representing the Star-Spangled Banner in the sport they love and excel in.
Under the directive of the organization, which serves the National Olympic Committee of the U.S., gold medal winners will receive $37,500 each, $22,500 for silver, and $15,000 for bronze.
Direct compensation also comes for travel and daily expenses which cover time rendered in training and competing in the Olympics. Such helps them offset their travel and lodging costs, among other necessities.

Then there is the indirect income from sponsorship deals. The bonuses from these vary per player but for the likes of LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, who have lucrative shoe deals with top brands like Nike and Under Armour, it could be considerably higher.
With the benefits, both monetary and non-financial ones, substantial in every way, along with the prestige of winning gold with "USA" in front of their jerseys, it should well be expected that NBA players would hardly have second thoughts once called up for national team duties.
LeBron James humbled for winning third Olympic gold with USA Basketball
While winning an Olympic gold medal comes with a lot of perks, for LeBron James, at the end of the day, it was a humbling experience to achieve such a feat with USA Basketball.
With their 98-87 victory over host France in the finals of the 2024 Paris Games on Saturday, 'The King' won his third Olympic gold medal, which he takes a lot of pride in and feels privileged to be part of.
Speaking to reporters following their gold medal-clinching victory at the Bercy Arena, James, 39, shared his thoughts on what they achieved and the journey they had with USA Basketball, saying:
"It's a big moment for USA basketball. I'm just living in the moment. I feel super humbled that I can still play this game and play it at a high level, play with 11 other great players, and a great coaching staff go out and do it for our country."
Paris could well be the swan song for James in the Olympics and he made sure that he left with a bang, winning tournament MVP honors after averaging all-around numbers of 14.2 points, 8.5 assists and 6. 8 rebounds in six games.
