The 2023 March Madness will officially start on Selection Sunday on March 12. A total of 68 teams will be chosen and announced as participants in the NCAA Tournament. Selection Sunday will be broadcast on CBS at 6 p.m. ET.
32 teams will automatically qualify by winning their conference championships, while 36 teams will be at-large bids. Four of those 36 at-large teams will be chosen to participate in the First Four tournament scheduled from March 14 to 15.
Most experts have Houston, Alabama, Kansas and Purdue as the number one seeds for each region. Several conference tournaments are scheduled to start this week, including the ASUN on Monday, and the Horizon League, Patriot League, and Sun Belt on Tuesday.

The Kansas Jayhawks are the defending NCAA champions. They defeated the UNC Tar Heels last year to win their fourth NCAA title ever and their first since 2008. They are also looking to become just the eighth team, and the first team since the 2006-07 Florida Gators, to win back-to-back championships.

2023 NCAA March Madness schedule
While Sunday Selection starts off the 2023 March Madness, the first games will be played at the First Four tournament from March 14 to 15 in Dayton, Ohio. Rounds 1 and 2 are scheduled from March 16 to 19 in eight locations around the nation.
The Sweet 16 and Elite Eight are scheduled from March 23 to 26. East regional games will be played at the most famous arena in the world, Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will host the West regional games, while the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky is the venue for the South regional games. The T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, will be the location for the Midwest regionals.
As for the Final Four, it is scheduled from April 1 to 3 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The Final Four hosts are the University of Houston, Rice University, Houston Christian University and Texas Southern University.
