The NBA Free Agency is usually where players secure the best deals of their playing careers. While it's usually not a long process, players often take their time to make sure they get the best deals. For this year, there's a big difference because of the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

As soon as the NBA Finals ended, each team had the chance to negotiate with upcoming free agents who had completed the season on their roster. After the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games, teams have been quick to negotiate with their respective, upcoming free agents.

On June 30, teams will begin making offers to players on different teams. It will start at 6 p.m. ET. A few days after that, on July 6, at 12:01 p.m. ET, teams will get to sign free agents to contracts.

As of now, no team has extended any offers to upcoming free agents from other teams. However, there have been reports which indicate which stars are potential targets for teams.

Top 5 best players in the 2024 NBA Free Agency

#5 DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have not moved the needle in their quest to re-sign the veteran star. At 35 years of age and in his 15th season, DeMar DeRozan is still a valuable asset in the market.

DeRozan may not be the same player as before but he'll make noise at this year's NBA Free Agency.

#4 OG Anunoby, New York Knicks

OG Anunoby has reportedly declined his player option and will be a free agent. Even though he's not a star, the two-way forward has still shown how important he is with the New York Knicks.

Anunoby could command a significant contract this offseason, proving his worth.

#3 Tyrese Maxey, Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers goal this season is to re-sign Tyrese Maxey to a new deal. Maxey is coming off his first All-Star season and also won the 2023-24 Most Improved Player of the Year award.

If anyone deserves a new deal from the Sixers, it's Maxey.

#2 LeBron James, LA Lakers

There have been reports that LeBron James is expected to decline his player option and enter free agency. Even at 39, James is still at the top of his game and has made the LA Lakers a potential contender.

The Lakers are reportedly interested in bringing him back on a new deal this summer.

#1 Paul George, LA Clippers

Paul George is the top player for the NBA Free Agency this year. He's had an unsuccessful time negotiating a contract extension with the LA Clippers. There have been rumors that the Knicks and Sixers might trade for George, while the Clippers are still having a hard time keeping him.

George is coming off his ninth All-Star selection.
