News surfaced this week that the LA Lakers were going to sign Sterling Brown to a 10-day contract amid Anthony Davis' prolonged absence. Brown, who made two appearances for the Raptors 905 after failing to find a contract with an NBA team earlier in the season, will now have another shot in the league.
With Sterling's signing, his 2018 dispute and arrest that saw him tased by the Milwaukee PD has surfaced once more. The incident was a pretty big deal. It saw many members of the NBA community condemn the city's police department for their actions.
As the story goes, Milwaukee police saw a car parked across two handicapped spaces which was eventually identified as Sterling Brown's car. When officers spoke with the rookie about the situation, things escalated and the officers used a taser on the young player.
The entire incident was captured on police body cameras, which only exacerbated the matter, given that officers were caught on their mics discussing their use of force.

“If he makes a [expletive] complaint, it’s going to be a [expletive] media firestorm. And then any little [expletive] thing that goes wrong is going to be, ‘Ohhhh, the Milwaukee Police Department is all racist, blah, blah, blah.’”
You can see the full arrest footage in the video above, including Sterling being tased, but be warned that there is content that some viewers may consider intense.
Sterling Brown sues Milwaukee PD after arrest
After the incident, Brown sued the Milwaukee Police Department. As he explained in a statement, what should have been a simple parking ticket turned into a major incident that saw him tased. The way he saw things, the common denominator in his situation, and others that occurred around that time, was racism.

The summer after the arrest, Brown spoke about the situation. He said:
"Situations like mine and worse happen every day in the black community. Being a voice and a face for people who won’t be heard and don’t have the same platform as I have is a responsibility I take seriously."
"I am speaking for Dontre Hamilton of Milwaukee, Laquan McDonald of Chicago, Stephon Clark of Sacramento, Eric Garner of New York, and the list goes on. These people aren’t able to speak anymore because of unjust actions by those who are supposed to 'serve and protect' the people."
After a three-year stint with the Bucks, Sterling Brown joined the Houston Rockets for a season, where he averaged a career-high 8.2 points per game. There he was jumped outside of a nightclub at the end of the season, where he suffered some pretty significant facial injuries.
