Team USA's summer of international play is now underway after playing their first exhibition match against Canada on Wednesday. Now, the team has flown to Abu Dhabi for their next game against Australia on Monday (Jul. 15). The game will tip off at 12 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on FS1.
Team USA will play one of the few countries to have once beaten them in an international game. Australia knocked them off 98-94 in 2019 before the FIBA World Cup. At the time, it was the first loss the team had experienced since 2016, snapping a 78-game win streak. Australian captain Patty Mills scored 30 in the game.
The American squad performed poorly in the 2019 tournament, losing more games to France and Serbia to finish in 7th place.
Australia, which boasts a handful of NBA talent, including Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey and Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum, struggled in their last international tournament. At the 2023 FIBA World Cup, they put up a 3-2 record with key losses to Germany and Slovenia that led them to a 10th-place finish.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Australia went 5-1 and earned the bronze medal after losing to Team USA 97-78 in the semifinals.
They've played a couple of exhibition games so far. They faced China twice and won both, 107-87 and 91-58.
Team USA shrugs off slow start to stomp Canada in exhibition game
In their first game together this summer, Team USA got off to a miserable start, going down 11-4 and needing to turn to the bench for support.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum provided a key spark for the team, propelling them into the lead and never looking back afterward. Edwards finished the game with a team-high 13 points on 5-8 shooting, while Tatum shot 4-7 for eight points.
The team was stellar on defense, holding Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to 10 points on 1-6 shooting. Gilgeous-Alexander was second in the NBA in MVP voting last season.
In the second half, it was the second unit that continued to pave the way, with Anthony Davis anchoring the team on both sides of the floor. He finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and four blocks. Team USA held on to the lead to win 86-72.
