When Patrick Beverley tried to talk trash to Russell Westbrook but it immediately backfired

Patrick Beverley's attempts to talk trash to Russell Westbrook before their recent matchup didn't go the way he expected it to. With Beverley recalling the details of his text exchange with Russ before the game, Westbrook also responded to Beverley with some trash talk of his own.

The ongoing rivalry between Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook has certainly taken on a different identity. Although there has been a lot of bad blood between the two in the past, the two seem to engage in some good-natured banter now.

This may be due to their time with the LA Lakers. With Beverley's arrival in the Lakers facility earlier in the season, the two had a chance to bury the hatchet. Beverley even went as far as to call Westbrook his best friend on the Lakers team.

Unfortunately, the two had to part ways ahead of the trade deadline as the Purple and Gold opted to trade the two. Beverley eventually found himself headed home to Chicago. Meanwhile, Russ simply relocated to the Clippers facility in LA.

Although the two currently play for different teams, their relationship hasn't soured and the spirit of the competition remains.

Bev and Russ played against each other recently when the Bulls visited the Clippers. Needless to say, there was some trash talk before the game.

Beverley recalled his exchange with Westbrook on a recent episode of the "Pat Bev Pod". He shared that he was exchanging pleasantries with Russ via text. However, in his last text, he said:

"Imma bust y'all a**."

Obviously, the text didn't age well as the Clippers walked away with the W. After the game, Westbrook addressed Beverley's text as well. He responded:

"But as you see tonight. Bust that a** tonight. He got the first action tonight. On yo a**."

Russell Westbrook hit the "rock-a-bye baby" celebration on Patrick Beverley

While Russell Westbrook was talking about the "first action of the night" in his comments, he could be referring to the bucket he scored over Patrick Beverley.

Given that he posted Pat Bev up and got the and-one call in the process, Russ also hit Beverley with the "rock-a-bye baby" celebration to add some embellishment.

The healthy competition between the two is a positive sight for the fans. Additionally, since leaving the bright lights of the Lakers, both players seem to have improved in their roles.

As both contribute to the success of their respective teams, we look forward to seeing their performances in the playoffs.
