Alabama forward Darius Miles was hoping to have a big season for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2022-23. After showing some flashes during his sophomore year, Miles was looking to take the next step forward in his development.
Miles was a part of the Crimson Tide's rotation as a sophomore. The 6'6" wing went on to average 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in just 17.2 minutes during the 2021-22 season.
After starting three games as a sophomore, the hope was that Miles would be ready to take on a bigger role as a junior. So far this season, Miles hasn't seen the floor much. He's played in just six games, averaging just 6.5 minutes per game.

Alabama Crimson Tide junior Darius Miles collegiate career on thin ice
Whenever a player decides to return for another season, there's optimism that the player will have improved success. That was just the case for Darius Miles after he decided to return for his junior season. Miles was originally from Washington, DC, and played in 30 games for the Alabama Crimson Tide during the 2021-22 season.
Unfortunately for Miles, the lack of playing time this season has become the least of his concerns. Tuscaloosa law enforcement announced on Sunday that Miles had been arrested and charged with "murder in connection" with a shooting near campus. The shooting resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman.
On Saturday, Alabama made a statement before its game against LSU that Miles would miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury. He's since been removed from the Crimson Tide's website and the university has stated that Darius has "been removed from campus."
Miles has played in just six games this season for the Crimson Tide. The last time he was on the court was December 20th against Jackson State, in which he registered just two points.
